'EarthShaker' is the name of Barry
Allen Honig's album which features Barry on all guitars parts
throughout the album and vocals on 'Something
Funky', 'Save Your Soul' and 'Tornado Alley'. Elliott Witherspoon
provides some dynamic vocals on several tracks and Perry Pineda who helped
out with bass guitar tracks on 'Something Funky' and the 'Bayou Swamp
Song'. All drum tracks provided by
yours truly!
I always thought
Barry
was one of the more uniquely talented
guitar players in the Los Angeles area currently still playing music
in the Long Beach, California music scene. Wait till you hear his blazing
guitar tracks and Elliott's dynamic vocals. Barry and I were once in another band
together many years
ago and managed to stay friends since. Barry also helped out
with the Jesse Anderson Band by adding numerous excellent guitar tracks
to the 'For
The Elvis Fans' CD meant for any Elvis fans, close friends and family. He also helped on some of the live shows when
Jesse was out visiting from Tennessee. Jesse passed away
unfortunately on Dec.12, 2021. This particular CD of Barry's was recorded roughly around
the year 2005. Originally it was recorded to showcase Barry's guitar work.
The drums were rerecorded
a year to two years later after the initial recording session and all the
songs were remixed in the later part of 2013 and again in late 2014.
A few years later I upgraded the drums to BFD3 which had better
sampled drums, many songs have updated mixes as of mid Nov. 2022.
Listen to the tracks below! I recorded these songs for Barry
because I always enjoyed his guitar playing and was very interested in
the recording
process as well. The 'EarthShaker' album was produced
and recorded by yours truly with the help of Barry of course. This entire album was made in
my living room! Barry started with the guitar tracks by
himself with his Martin D-35 acoustic, using a Shure 57 microphone.
All of the guitar tracks were recorded through a Johnson J-Station amp
simulator. He really wanted to use his '64 Fender Super Reverb for the
clean sound and his 1972, 50 watt
Marshall turned up to 11 for the overdrive sound but being in an apartment
complex I knew my neighbors would not have liked that. Barry would have
probably broken my windows with the volume anyway...heh. I
originally started recording the drums using the Alesis DM4 'digital' drum module and some digital drum pads, but
eventually upgraded to the Roland midi drum
controller and then sending the midi data to my PC via my Cubase software and BFD
3 virtual
drum software by Fxpansion. Just click on the
appropriate links below to listen to a song. I'm sure anybody that likes rock
or blues will hopefully enjoy this music... All songs with asterisks
next to the titles were original songs written by Barry Allen Honig.
